KEY RUN FORREST INFO – WHAT YOU NEED TO  KNOW

Registration

  • Your entry fee includes the opportunity to experience Run Forrest – a unique trail running experience in the Otway Ranges & the only opportunity to run the trails surrounding Lake Elizabeth (21km only)

    Your entry also includes an official race time recorded by the event Commissarie using an accurate electronic timing system.

    Water stations on course (21km & 10km) and fruit in the village.

    Traffic control until 1.15pm (21km course)

    All competitors will receive a downloadable finishers certificate.

    Your early entry allows for the organiser to provide key amenities and logistics more successfully.

  • Once you have entered on line via the ‘enter online’ page you will receive an email confirming your entry. You do not need to do anything further until the day of the event. On the day of the event you are required to register yourself and collect your race bib from the EVENT REGISTRATION marquee located at the Race Village between 9 to 10.30am.

    Event registration for all categories will be held between 9 to 10.30am on Saturday 8 June 2024

  • No!!! Race numbers will not be sent to you prior to the race. You will be provided with your race number when you register on the day of the event at the EVENT REGISTRATION marquee located at the Race Village. Registration opens at 9am and closes at 10.30am.

  • You can register online anytime up 10.30am on the day of the event. However you will be conisdiered a late entry and the price increase.

  • Yes, entries will be permitted on the day of the event if categories are not full. An extra fee will be charged for on the day entries.

  • You will receive your race number, pre-ordered race t-shirt (if ordered online) any other additional information regarding the event.

  • Registrations for all categories will be held on the day of the event from 9am – 10.30am. You are required to register yourself at the EVENT REGISTRATION marquee located at the Race Village. If you have not registered for the event you will not be able to compete.

  • Yes!!!! It is mandatory to attend the Pre Race Brief. You will be advised on relevant course updates and safety information

  • Pre Race Brief is at 10.40am on the day of the event.

    It is mandatory for all entrants to attend. the brief includes all course updates and safety information.

Event Parking

  • Parking is not available at the Race Village or in any locations around the event course. Access to the Race Village is strictly via pedestrian access only. There are several areas surrounding the event that provide suitable on street parking options in town.

    Please do not park across driveways.

    Once you have parked follow the signs to the village via Hennigan Crescent.

Course Information

  • The Race Village is located on the banks of the Barwon River, just outside the township of Forrest (approx 10min walk to the Forrest Brewery & Soup Festival). The Race Village is only a short walk from the township of Forrest. Use Hennigan Crescent & the Forrest Loop Trail to access the Race Village.

    Directions from the main township to the race village will be well signed.

    The Race Village will be strictly closed to all public vehicles. Public vehicles will not be permitted access to the Race Village.

  • All courses utilise the existing network of tracks and trails surrounding Forrest, the West Barwon Reservoir and Lake Elizabeth.

  • Key distance markers and turn arounds will be placed around the course.

  • Marshall’s and Traffic Controllers will be positioned at various locations around the course. A motorcyclist will patrol the course for first aid support, evacuation and trail sweep

  • You must carry your own water & vessel to ensure you remain hydrated around the course. Hydration stations will be positioned at the 5.5km and 17km and in Lake Elizabeth Carpark the 21km course and at the 6km mark of the 10km course. Hydration & fruit station will also be located at the Race Village near the start/finish line.

  • Yes there is a bag drop Marquee in the Event Village

Event Facilities

  • A small number of food and beverage vendors will be selling food and drinks at the Race Village. You can also bring a packed lunch/picnic to enjoy during the event. You are not permitted to bring your own alcohol.

    Forrest has a small number of cafe’s and a Brewery. Bookings are essential

  • There is no petrol station in Forrest the closest fuel is in Colac (30km) or Apollo Bay (45km).

  • Portable public toilets will be available on site at the Race Village. Keep in mind that everyone will need the toilet at the same time. We do our best to provide a suitable no. however last minute entries make it difficult to gauge. This is why we request you enter early.

  • Yes. There will be an official presentation on the day of the event. This will occur approx. 1.15pm (TBC).

    If you are a Run Forrest Winner or Place Getter you will receive a medal. If you have departed before the Presentation you will not be posted your medal.

  • St John’s Ambulance Service will be in attendance at the event and will be stationed at the Race Village to assist competitors and spectators.

    Event marshals will also be situated around the course to assist with any medical issues.

    It is recommended that you seek medical advice to ensure that you are fit to participate in this event. This advice should be obtained regularly and with the specific demands of the Run Forrest event in mind. Please take appropriate steps to ensure you are hydrated prior to and during the event.

Event Timing

  • All competitors who complete the full course (21km, 10km & 6km events) will receive an official timing.

    Those who do not complete the course will be classified as DID NOT FINISH (DNF), with no times recorded.

    Official event results will be posted on http://www.runforest.com.au after the event.

  • The event course will officially close at 2.30pm. Those who have not completed the course by this time will be classified as DID NOT FINISH (DNF), with no times recorded. Village will be dismantled and packed up from 1.30pm. Please do not be offended if you finish after 1.30pm and village has been packed up

Cancellation

  • There are NO refunds for this race. You can transfer your registration to another person from the registration site.

    Race Management reserves the right to cancel or modify the event due to unfavorable condition

    Registration fees are not refundable in the event of cancellation due to "Acts of God".

  • Southern Exposure (Event Manager) reserves the right to alter the course or cancel the event without notice should conditions on the day of the event potentially threaten the safety of event competitors, spectators and staff. If there is an extra ordinary act of nature and the course can not be altered or race conducted or if we are advised by governing agencies on the day we will not refund entry fee’s.

    You must collect pre purchased merchandise at the event Merchandise Marquee. Merchandise will not be posted.

Accommodation & Visitor Information

  • Go to the Run Forrest Visitor Info page. Although there is no official accommodation arrangement associated with the Run Forrest event, we encourage you to make the most of your time in Forrest. Stay a night or two (or more!) and enjoy the long weekend in this beautiful part of the world.
