What does my entry fee include?

Your entry fee includes the opportunity to experience Run Forrest – a unique trail running experience in the  Otway Ranges & the only opportunity to run the trails surrounding Lake Elizabeth (21km only)

Your entry also includes an official race time recorded by the event Commissarie using an accurate electronic timing system.

Water stations on course (21km & 10km) and fruit in the village.

Traffic control until 12.30pm (21km course)

All competitors will receive a downloadable finishers certificate.

How soon should I enter?

This years event will be capped and previous entrants will be offered first option via our newsletter which will be sent out on  31st January to remind all that entries open at noon on  1 February 2018.  You must enter via the online registration site.  As entries will be capped we suggest entering prior to April 30th. A late fee of $10 will be charged for entries after May 1st.  

Your early entry allows for the organiser to provide key amenities and logistics more successfully.

What do I need to do once I have entered online?

Once you have entered on line via the ‘enter online’ page you will receive an email confirming your entry. You do not need to do anything further until the day of the event. On the day of the event you are required to register yourself and collect your race bib from the EVENT REGISTRATION marquee located at the Race Village between 7.30am – 9am.

Event registration for all categroies will be held between 7.30am – 9am on Sunday 10th June 2018.

Early registration will be available at the Forrest Brewery on Saturday 9th  June from 2 – 4pm

Will I receive my race number before the event?

No!!! Race numbers will not be sent to you prior to the race. You will be provided with your race number when you register on the day of the event at the EVENT REGISTRATION marquee located at the Race Village. Registration opens at 7.30am and closes at 9am.

When do entries close?

You can register online anytime up until midnight on Friday 8th June.

Can I enter on the day?

Yes, entries will  be permitted on the day of the event if categories are not full.  A fee of $20 extra will be charged.

What will I receive when I register?

You will receive your race number, pre-ordered race t-shirt (if ordered online) any other additional information regarding the event.

What time does registration close on the day of the event?

Registrations for all categories will be held on the day of the event from 7.30am – 9am. You are required to register yourself at the EVENT REGISTRATION marquee located at the Race Village. If you have not registered for the event you will not be able to compete.

What time does the event start?

The event will start at 10am sharp for the 21km competitor and 10.30 am for the 10 km competitors.  9.15am for 6km & 6kmkids race begins.  


EVENT PARKING

Where can I park during the event?

Parking is not available at the Race Village or in any locations around the event course. Access to the Race Village is strictly via pedestrian access only. There are several areas surrounding the event that provide suitable on street parking options in town.

Please do not park across driveways.

Once you have parked follow the signs to the village via Hennigan Crescent.


COURSE INFORMATION

Where is the Race Village?

The Race Village is located on the banks of the Barwon River, just outside the township of Forrest (approx 10min walk to the Forrest Brewery & Soup Festival). The Race Village is only a short walk from the township of Forrest. Use Hennigan Crescent to access the Race Village.

Directions from the main township to the race village will be well signed.

The Race Village will be strictly closed to all public vehicles. Public vehicles will not be permitted access to the Race Village.

Where does the course go?

All courses utilise the existing network of tracks and trails surrounding Forrest, the West Barwon Reservoir and Lake Elizabeth.

Will the course be distance marked?

Key distance markers and turn arounds will be placed around the course.

Will the course be marshalled?

Marshall’s and Traffic Controllers  will be positioned at various locations around the course.  A motorcyclist will patrol the course for first aid support, evacuation and trail sweep.

Do I need to carry my own water?

We encourage you to carry your own water to ensure you remain hydrated around the course. Drink stations will be positioned at the 5.5km and 17km and in Lake Elizabeth Carpark the 21km course and at the 6km mark of the 10km course. A drink/fruit station will also be located at the Race Village near the start/finish line.


EVENT FACILITIES

Food & Beverages

A small number of food and beverage vendors will be selling food and drinks at the Race Village. You can also bring a packed lunch/picnic to enjoy during the event.  You are not permitted to bring your own alcohol.  Forrest will host the Forrest Soup Fest on the same day as the Run Forrest Trail Run and includes great Otway fare, plus the Cafe’s & stores will also have delicious menu’s.

Is there fuel in Forrest?

There is no petrol station in Forrest the closest fuel is in Colac (30km) or Apollo Bay (45km).

Will there be toilet facilities on site?

Portable public toilets will be available on site at the Race Village.  Keep in mind that everyone will need the toilet at the same time.  We do our best to provide a suitable no.  however last minute entries make it difficult to gauge.  This is why we request you enter early.

Will there be a presentation?

Yes. There will be an official presentation on the day of the event. This will occur approx. 12.30pm

Will there be medical assistance available?

St John’s Ambulance Service will be in attendance at the event and will be stationed at the Race Village to assist competitors and spectators.

Event marshals will also be situated around the course to assist with any medical issues.

It is recommended that you seek medical advice to ensure that you are fit to participate in this event. This advice should be obtained regularly and with the specific demands of the Run Forrest event in mind. Please take appropriate steps to ensure you are hydrated prior to and during the event.


EVENT TIMING

Is the event time recorded?

All competitors who complete the full course (21km, 10km & 6km events) will receive an official timing. Those who do not complete the course will be classified as DID NOT FINISH (DNF), with no times recorded.  Official event results will be posted on www.runforest.com.au after the event.

Is there a time limit?

The event course will officially close at 2.30pm. Those who have not completed the course by this time will be classified as DID NOT FINISH (DNF), with no times recorded.  Village will be dismantled and packed up from 12.30pm.  Please do not be offended if you finish after 12.30pm and village has been packed up.


CANCELLATION

If I am unable to participate on the day, can I receive a refund?

Unfortunately, refunds are not available under any circumstances.

If I am unable to participate on the day, can I transfer my entry?

Unfortunately, transfers of entry are not permitted under any circumstance. If a competitor is found to be using another person’s number/timing piece, results will not be recorded.

What happens in the event of inclement weather?

Southern Exposure (Event Manager) reserves the right to alter the course or cancel the event without notice should conditions on the day of the event potentially threaten the safety of event competitors, spectators and staff.  If there is an extra ordinary act of nature and the course can not be altered or race conducted or if we are advised by governing agencies on the day we will not refund entry fee’s.


MERCHANDISE

Will I receive an official event t-shirt?

There will be an official event t-shirt available for sale online when you enter ($35) or at the Race Village ($45) on the day of the event. Prices are TBC.


ACCOMMODATION & VISITOR INFORMATION

Go to the Run Forrest Visitor Info page Although there is no official accommodation arrangement associated with the Run Forrest event, we encourage you to make the most of your time in Forrest. Stay a night or two (or more!) and enjoy the long weekend in this beautiful part of the world.

The Forrest Soup Fest

Run Forrest coincides with the Forrest Soup Fest which will also be held on Sunday 10th June from 10am at the Forrest Town Hall. The festival features beautiful Otway fare including homemade soups, conserves, pickles, cheese, relish, homebrew beers and wines and a wide range of free family entertainment including a jumping castle and market stalls.
